NEW YORK (360Dx) – Optrascan today announced its whole-slide scanners have received CE marking for in vitro diagnostic use in the European Union.
The company's on-demand desktop scanning systems are cloud-enabled and have small footprints, as well as low and high throughputs. In a statement, Optrascan Founder and CEO Abhi Gholap called the CE designation a "significant milestone" for the company "to support pathologists for the European continent toward adopting digital pathology for their requirements."
Optrascan was founded in 2014 and offers subscription-based services to pathologists who don't want to pay the high instrument costs associated with digital pathology technology. Its systems, also called Optrascan, enable the acquisition of whole-slide images, as well as viewing, sharing, on-demand analysis, and management of digital slides.
In March, the company launched the third generation version of the Optrascan system.
