NEW YORK (360Dx) – Taiwan-based Sofiva Genomics today announced that it has established its first subsidiary in Bangkok.
Sofiva offers prenatal screening, neonatal screening, personalized genetic testing, and cancer screening, it said. Additionally, the Thai subsidiary will offer testing for spinal muscular atrophy screening and fragile X syndrome screening.
Sofiva also provides screening for Prader-Willi syndrome, Angelman syndrome, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and hemophilia, and the Bangkok lab aims to provide liquid biopsy-based tests in the future for various cancers, it said.
According to Sofiva General Manager Chia-Cheng Hong, Bangkok is centrally located in Southeast Asia and provides the company access to Thailand and other markets in the region. "For example, we can develop the market and make exchanges with nearby Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia and hopefully develop a large genetic testing market in the future," he said.
