Job Description

We are hiring for a Vice President of Research and Development  to lead company wide research and development activities. The Vice President will drive the research strategy for all new and existing products, and will be responsible new assay development, optimization of current assays, and our publication plan.

-Lead, direct, and plan research and development strategy to enhance existing products and explore new product opportunities
-Lead and coordinate all activities of the R&D team, including internal and external resources across multiple disciplines (biomarker discovery, assay, and algorithm)
-Drive the R&D roadmap and allocation of resources in alignment with product portfolio priorities
-Collaborate with the VP of Product to conceive new product ideas and translate market requirements into product specifications
-Evaluate new technologies and research methods that can be leverage to accelerate product development process and pipeline
-Define publication strategy and manage end-to-end execution based on gaps and opportunities for scientific disclosure. Coordinate across R&D team to write, draft and/or edit scholarly works and/or articles. Oversee all aspects of production, often for multiple publications (copy editing, fact checking and quality assurance stages)
-Identify funding opportunities (grants/contracts) and own proposal development to support research plan


-Master's or PhD degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, or related field
-10+ years of industry experience including a proven track record in product development of molecular assays
-Domain expertise in genomics, particularly RNA, small RNA, and microRNA
-Familiarity with CLIA/CAP requirements and standards as it relates to product development
-Experience with grant submission and strong understanding of the SBIR process
-Excellent problem solving and analytical skills combined with experience working with outside consultants and investigators in a collaborative fashion
-Strong verbal and communication skills, including ability to distill key insights to non technical audiences
-Experience in translating novel technologies to commercialized products is a plus
-Molecular diagnostics background is a plus
