Job Description

The Senior Curation Scientist will work within a team of clinical professionals to perform genomics knowledge mining and content derivation supporting Ashion’s precision medicine platform. The scientist will work in collaboration with genomics and clinical teams to develop and implement an interpretive genomics guided therapy report that is informative and clinically relevant.

Contribute to Ashion’s precision medicine knowledgebase by identifying, interpreting, and documenting key findings from the literature to capture gene alterations associated with drug sensitivity and resistance.

Participate in interpretation and analysis of identified variants from clinical samples as part of Ashion’s precision medicine program.

Collaborate with scientists and clinicians to refine content and structure of reports.

Contribute to additional projects in support of Ashion’s broader precision medicine efforts.

Interact effectively with bioinformaticians to develop and refine innovative strategies.


Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent with strong background in Human Genetics, Molecular Genetics, Genomics, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or related field.

Demonstrated understanding of cancer genomics, signal transduction pathways, cancer cell biology, targeted therapeutics, and whole genome, exome, and/or RNA-sequencing.

Expertise in genomic variant curation. Experience with genomic medicine and translational cancer research, including working with next generation sequencing data.

Ability to critically evaluate and interpret scientific literature.

Proven record of scientific achievement as demonstrated by presentations and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to explain concepts to a diverse audience.

Ability to work independently on multiple tasks and perform careful, detail-oriented work within a team environment.

Experience using public databases, tools, and resources (NCBI, EBI, UCSC, IGV).

Demonstrated proficiency with databases is a plus. Bioinformatics scripting is a plus. Familiarity with a Linux environment is a plus.
