Job Description

Cold Spring Harbor laboratory located on the North Shore of Long Island, is currently accepting applications for a Research Technician II position in molecular biology at our MAPSeq Core Facility in Woodbury.

The successful candidate will participate in basic research and technology development in an exciting project at the intersection of neuroscience and molecular biology. Primary responsibilities involve DNA/RNA manipulation, including DNA/RNA isolation, reverse transcription and PCR. Experience with microscope and high-throughput DNA sequencing technologies will be beneficial. The position requires flexibility, creativity, excellent organizational skills, the ability to troubleshoot and work independently and a strong work ethic. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger team and should have good communication skills. Interest in neuroscience is suggested.

Requirements

Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology or related discipline as well as 1-3 years of non classroom related molecular biology experience is required for this position and an MS degree in molecular biology or related discipline is preferred and may be considered in lieu of work experience.

Other Experience & Skills: The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and organizational skills as well as high attention to detail and an interest in neuroscience.
