Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Bioinformatics data processing and analytics - The BA will lead the project effort in pre-processing, processing, analyzing, and integrating the multiomics data received from project collaborators using state-of-the-art computational and statistical approaches. 
  • Implementation and adaptation of bioinformatics methods and pipelines – The BA will write scripts and software programs to implement, adapt, revise, and assemble bioinformatics software methods/pipelines for multiomics data analysis and visualization.
  • Reporting and documenting workflow performance – The BA will be responsible for preparing and keeping track of documentation on the reported issues and solutions on a regular basis.   
  • Efficient and effective oral and written communication with immunology/infectious disease researchers, project PI, and other bioinformaticians in the group for planning and conducting data analysis tasks as well as accomplishing project milestones and deliverables in a timely fashion - The BA needs to be able to understand the project requirements, prepare, present, and submit data analysis results in formal reports using slides, spreadsheets, diagrams, figures, and tables as needed by the scientific researchers and project PI. The BA will also be responsible for providing needed content for scientific manuscripts and leading the writing of relevant manuscript and report sections based on his/her work.


Successful candidates should have: 

  • Master of Science or Engineering degree or Ph.D. in mathematical or computer sciences, statistical sciences/biostatistics, immunology/biological sciences, or biomedical informatics/engineering.
  • Strong familiarity with bioinformatics algorithms and software tools for genomic, transcriptomic, and cytometry data analysis, as well as a general understanding of life sciences research.
  • Advanced programming skills in at least one programming language, with preference for Python or R, as well as extensive experience with running and modifying data analytical software programs on different operating systems.
  • Experience with version control and open source platforms, e.g. GitHub, single cell transcriptomics and/or flow cytometry data, multi-omics data integration, clinical trial studies, and the applications of machine and deep learning models in bioinformatics would be a plus.
