Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Senior Scientist to join our Multi-Omics Technology Center and lead our efforts in single cell technology evaluation, optimization, and new assay development. You will work closely with scientists and research associates in the Technology Centers and core investigator labs to unleash the potentials of single cell analysis on cutting edge neurodegenerative diseases and cancer research. The ideal candidate has a passion for technology development and a proven track record of working in an interdisciplinary environment and turning concepts into reliable protocols and products.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and curious scientist interested in the intersection of basic research and biotech product development. Title and compensation will be competitive with industry jobs relative to experience level and background.

Job Responsibilities

Drive research efforts and contribute to the multi-omics center technology roadmap in the single cell space
Work closely with core investigators and internal and external collaborators to gather user needs and define project scopes and priorities
Evaluate and implement commercial systems and workflows
Develop and optimize new single-cell multi-omic technologies and workflows in-house
Drive single-cell technology development projects from concept through development and technology transfer
Managing multiple projects, have responsibility for planning, tracking, and driving timely execution of research activities
Report progress and present data in internal and external meetings
Mentor junior scientists and RAs


- PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, or similar fields
- 3-8 years’ post-doctoral experience in academia or biotechnology industry
- Deep expertise in molecular biology, NGS assay development and troubleshooting, and various single-cell sequencing workflows (sample prep, emulsions, scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq, etc.)
- Proven record in single cell method publications or product development
- Demonstrated success in developing and optimizing novel molecular biology assays
- Deep understanding of a wide variety of NGS library preparation workflows
- Experience with spatial transcriptomics and/or proteomics is a plus
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment and be a team player

The Arc Institute is a new scientific institution that conducts curiosity-driven basic science and technology development to understand and treat complex human diseases. Headquartered in Palo Alto, California, Arc is an independent research organization founded on the belief that many important research programs will be enabled by new institutional models.
