Job Description

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is currently accepting applications for a Media Maker position in the Hillside Building to support all the laboratories on the Hillside Campus.
Responsibilities will include:

·         Prepare stock solutions, buffers, and media as needed

·         Prepare LB agar plates with requested antibiotics as needed

·         Maintain inventory of all reagents in the chemical room.

·         Keep balances, stir plates , pH meter, and other equipment in chemical room, clean and working order

·         Prepare trypsin and pen/strep stock solutions for tissue culture rooms

·         Monitor water pans levels in all tissue culture incubators, and refill as necessary

·         Assist tissue culture manager in autoclaving virus room garbage and glassware

·         Help with dishwashers duties when needed

EDUCATION: College level chemistry courses or equivalent 
EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years experience in biomedical laboratory making biological buffers, growth media and other solutions
SKILLS: interest in science desirable understanding of sterile and aseptic techniques; ability to work in a team environment; meticulous organizational skills; and general computer skills.
