NEW YORK — MFB Fertility said on Wednesday that it has received US Food and Drug Administration clearance for its at-home progesterone ovulation test Proov.
According to the Boulder, Colorado-based company, Proov test strips are designed to measure the presence of PdG, a urine metabolite of the hormone progesterone. Tracking levels of PdG after suspected ovulation can confirm that ovulation has successfully occurred, MFB said.
The test was first launched in 2018.
MFB said that it plans to launch a Proov companion smartphone app later this year, which will help users collect data on hormones involved in ovulation. The firm also plans to expand its women's health pipeline to include additional fertility- and perimenopause-related products.
