NEW YORK (360Dx) – Ortho Clinical Diagnostics said today that it has received CE marking for its Vitros XT MicroSlide, a technology that allows labs to run two tests simultaneously.
The technology leverages Ortho's Digital Chemistry, an optics technology that "gleans significantly more information from each test than before, improving performance and enabling powerful data analysis," the firm said. Because the Vitros XT MicroSlide runs two tests that are commonly ordered together at the same time from a single small blood sample, lab productivity and turnaround time is improved and inventory management is simplified and storage space is optimized, Ortho added.
The ability to run two slides simultaneously reduces sample volume compared to current technology, Jennifer Paine, head of business fields at Ortho, said in a statement. "This approach allows timely reporting — especially important for complex, challenging, or delicate patients," she added.
The Vitros XT MicroSlide includes Vitros XT UREA-CREA, TRIG-CHOL, and GLU-Ca Slides. Those products are under review with the US Food and Drug Administration for premarket notifications, Ortho said.
