NEW YORK (360Dx) – Mologic today announced its rapid point-of-care test for bacterial vaginosis has received CE marking.
The firm also is commercially launching the test called BVPro and has inked a three-year distribution deal with Sysmex subsidiary Hitado to distribute the test throughout Germany. Mologic did not disclose the terms of the agreement.
From a vaginal swab sample, BVPro detects sialidase enzyme activity, a well-established clinical marker of bacterial vaginosis. The test leverages lateral flow technology for easy interpretation and provides results in 15 minutes, Mologic said, adding that other current methods for detecting bacterial vaginosis can be time-consuming and provide ambiguous results.
In June the British diagnostics company said it received CE marking for its Periplex POC test for detecting infections in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis.
