NEW YORK (360Dx) – Beckman Coulter Diagnostics said today that it has received CE marking for its DxH 520 hematology analyzer, which is designed to help physician office laboratories deliver results with increased productivity and ease.
The firm said that the analyzer enhances efficiency and resource management using a comprehensive set of features that automates daily tasks.
Using two aqueous-based cyanide-, azide- and formaldehyde-free reagents, designed to eliminate disposal costs, the system reduces the amount of time spent on lab operations and frees up time for patient care, Beckman added.
Laboratories with low-volume workloads are under increased pressure to deliver high-quality patient care with greater operational efficiency. The CE-marked analyzer strengthens clinical decision-making using a proprietary dynamic-gating method that improves sample flagging, and it reduces slide reviews and technical interpretation while maintaining effective clinical sensitivity, Beckman said.
It is an upgrade from a three-part to a five-part differential instrument that gives clinicians more information by which to make decisions when they are assessing a patient, the firm said.
A robust information technology and data-management package helps reduce clerical errors and inefficiencies and allows for easy retrieval of up to 30,000 patient samples, the firm said, adding the system’s small 17 mL aspiration is ideal for puncture samples from infants, geriatric, oncology, and critical-care patients.
