NEW YORK (360Dx) – Abbott said today that it has received CE marking for its Alinity h-series system for hematology testing, which integrates the Alinity hq standalone hematology analyzer with its Alinity hs slide maker-and-stainer module.
The Alinity h-series system has a throughput of 133 complete blood counts (CBCs) per square meter, Abbott said.
In hematology, clinicians measure complete blood counts to evaluate overall health and detect a wide range of disorders, including anemia and leukemia. The Alinity hq analyzer automates the performance of the CBC and reports results within minutes, Abbott said, adding the hs module automates blood film preparation and staining and can stain externally prepared blood films.
The system integrates separated workstations into a single, compact platform, the firm said, adding that an internal conveyor removes the need for an external track and reduces hands-on time spent by operators in moving samples around the lab. With continuous access, a lab can enable an uninterrupted workflow by adding tests and reagents without pausing or stopping instruments.
Wade Bolton, Abbott's divisional vice president of hematology research and development, said that a "rigorous reliability growth program was executed for the Alinity h-series systems involving millions of cycle runs to identify potential failure points, which were then redesigned for reliability."
Abbott received CE marking earlier this year for its Alinity hq standalone hematology analyzer.
