NEW YORK – Roche announced on Wednesday that it has received CE marking for its Cobas Pure Integrated Solutions Analyzer for small to medium laboratories.
The analyzer combines clinical chemistry, immunochemistry, and ISE diagnostic testing for low to mid-volume testing needs. It automates manual lab tasks and has a hands-on maintenance time of five minutes per day, Roche said in a statement. It can perform up to 870 tests an hour and works with the company's full menu of clinical chemistry and immunochemistry assays.
The solution comes with automated maintenance and calibration, as well as ready-to-use reagents to "help simplify the overall operation of the lab," Roche said. The company added that the required sample volume per test has been reduced by 43 percent on average compared to earlier-generation systems. The plastic generated from each result has also been reduced by up to 78 percent thanks to smaller reagent pack sizes and higher numbers of tests per pack.
A spokesperson from Roche said the company expects to launch the analyzer in the US by the end of the second quarter.
The Cobas Pure analyzer provides standardized results and operations to Roche's Cobas Pro analyzer, which is designed for larger labs, "to ensure simple and effective work across healthcare networks," Roche said. Cobas Pure is also compatible with the company's Cobas Mobile solution, a tablet that integrates Roche applications and allows laboratorians to "interact with the analyzer from anywhere in the lab," the company added.
