NEW YORK – Ortho Clinical Diagnostics on Wednesday announced that it has received CE marking for its Vitros XT 3400 Chemistry System and is launching the system in a number of countries that accept the regulatory designation.
The system simultaneously performs two tests frequently ordered together that are run using the firm's Vitros XT MicroSlide technology, a multi-layered, postage-stamp-sized slide which filters out lipids and proteins that can impact the quality of results.
The Vitros XT MicroSlide technology enables an up to 40 percent higher throughput than the slides used with its current integrated system, the firm said.
Ortho added that the Vitros XT 3400 Chemistry System combined with its Vitros XT 7600 Integrated System completes its suite of Vitros XT Solutions, which help labs obtain consistently fast, accurate, and reliable results.
Piper Antimarino, head of Ortho's clinical labs product portfolio, noted that "the diagnostic space is under constant pressure to do more with less, and often, that starts in the lab." Vitros XT Solutions ensure the right result the first time with a 96.5 percent first-pass yield, and they reduce the need for manual interventions, such as those caused by reviews, reruns, or redraws, Ortho said.
