Tetracore Gets CE-IVD Mark for RT-PCR Thermocycler

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Tetracore announced today that it has received CE-IVD marking for its T-Cor 8 portable real-time PCR thermocycler.

The T-Cor 8 is a point-of-care diagnostic system that enables real-time molecular testing in hospitals, clinics, physician offices, and the field, according to the company. It can be plugged in or run on a built-in battery, is cloud-ready and networkable, and allows for multiple protocols simultaneously. It also features eight independently programmable wells, an integrated barcode scanner, and report downloading via network or USB drive.

With the CE-IVD marking, the system is now approved for sale throughout the European Economic Area.

Tetracore is currently developing a variety of tests for the T-Cor 8, including panels for respiratory viruses, hospital-acquired infections, and gastrointestinal infectious disease. In early 2015, the company won a National Institutes of Health grant to develop an assay that detects and distinguishes dengue and chikungunya viruses.
