NEW YORK — Tecan said on Thursday that it has partnered with Belgian molecular diagnostics software developer UgenTec to combine their respective technologies for integrated sample-to-answer PCR workflows.
Under the terms of their deal, the companies will market Tecan's liquid handling and automation workstations in combination with UgenTec's FastFinder PCR analysis software to diagnostics laboratories. Tecan said that the combined offering will also form the basis of vitro diagnostics platforms developed through its Synergence original equipment manufacturer service.
Financial and other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Both companies have struck other partnerships in the past. About a year ago, Switzerland-based Tecan began working with Zymo Research to launch a viral DNA/RNA extraction product. Around that same time, UgenTec partnered with LGC Biosearch Technologies on a SARS-CoV-2 detection workflow.
