NEW YORK — Microbix Biosystems said on Wednesday that it has signed a US distribution deal for its quality assessment products with Thomas Scientific.
Under the terms of the deal, Swedesboro, New Jersey-based Thomas Scientific will provide customer service, sales and marketing, distribution, and related logistical support for Microbix's quality assessment products, or QAPs.
Additional terms were not disclosed.
Mississauga, Ontario-based Microbix offers more than 70 quality assessment products to support the accuracy of infectious disease diagnostic tests, including ones for molecular assays that detect SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern.
Thomas Scientific is Microbix's second US distribution partner. In early 2020, Microbix inked a similar deal with Alpha-Tec Systems.
"We're aiming for the US market to achieve 10 [times] the QAPs revenue we do in Canada, and now with [Thomas Scientific's] 175 active sales professionals generating leads and five molecular specialists helping close them, our targets should be achieved," Phil Casselli, senior VP of sales and business development at Microbix, said in a statement.
Last month, Microbix signed on SDT Molecular to distribute its products in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
