Hamilton, MolGen, EWC Diagnostics Partner to Boost Coronavirus Testing in Netherlands

NEW YORK — Dutch life sciences firm MolGen and EWC Diagnostics have partnered with Hamilton to ramp up SARS-CoV-2 testing capacity in the Netherlands, the companies said on Thursday.

Under the alliance, Reno, Nevada-based Hamilton will provide products for automated RNA extraction and PCR setup, MolGen will provide RNA extraction chemistry and lab consumables, and EWC will contribute CE-IVD-marked SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests from Pathofinder and PCR instrumentation from Bio-Rad Laboratories.

MolGen and EWC will oversee the initiative's interactions with labs across the Netherlands, which have signed up to acquire 15 testing systems offered by the companies.

"We strongly believe in locally developed and manufactured products to enable the Dutch laboratories to carry out as many SARS-CoV-2 tests as necessary," EWC CEO Wiljan Hoekstra said in a statement. "We are convinced that our consortium in the Netherlands, together with the participating laboratories, will set a future standard for successful care with sufficient testing capacity."
