Curetis Signs Vietnam Distribution Deal for Unyvero Dx System, Cartridges

NEW YORK — Curetis said on Thursday that it has signed a deal with Quaphaco to distribute its Unyvero A50 diagnostic system and related application cartridges in Vietnam.

Under the terms of the deal, Ho Chi Minh City-based Quaphaco will exclusively commercialize the Unyvero system and application cartridges for the diagnosis of severe infections in hospitalized patients in Vietnam. The arrangement has an initial three-year term, which can be extended in two-year increments.

Holzgerlingen, Germany-based Curetis said that Quaphaco has also committed to minimum instrument and cartridge purchases of roughly €1.9 million ($2.1 million) over the initial term of the deal. Quaphaco is also responsible for product registration in Vietnam, which is expected in the second quarter.

"This partnership strengthens our commercial presence in the [Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)] region and complements our commercial efforts with our partner Acumen Research Laboratories in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia," Curetis CEO Oliver Schacht said in a statement.

In 2015, Curetis licensed the exclusive distribution rights for the Unyvero product line in ASEAN members to Acumen. More recently, it signed multiple distribution pacts for the Unyvero A50 system and cartridges in various European markets.
