Curetis Inks European Distribution Deals for MDx Products

NEW YORK — German molecular diagnostics firm Curetis said today that it has struck two distribution deals for its Unyvero A50 instrument system and test cartridges with Ako Med.

Under the terms of the deals, Ako Med's Bosnian and Serbian branches will have the exclusive commercialization rights to the PCR-based diagnostic system and related assays in Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. The deals have an initial term of three years and include undisclosed minimum purchases of Unyvero instruments and test cartridges by Ako Med. The deals may be extended in two-year increments.

"We are very pleased to work with Ako Med as a highly committed partner to make Unyvero more broadly available in the [Central and Eastern European] region," Curetis CEO Oliver Schacht said in a statement. "We are also working with our strategic pan-European partner Menarini Diagnostics to broaden the scope of our commercial partnership in other parts of Europe and expect to give an update on such expansion shortly."

Earlier this year, Curetis formed a long-term distribution partnership with Florence, Italy-based Menarini covering Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the UK, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Sweden.
