NEW YORK – Danaher subsidiary Cepheid provided notice last week that it will lay off 167 employees from multiple California-based sites, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification report filed with the state of California on March 13.
The employees, who work in manufacturing, are located at the firm's sites in Fremont, Newark, Lodi, Sunnyvale, and Santa Clara and will be laid off effective May 12.
According to Cepheid's LinkedIn page, the firm currently has between 5,001 and 10,000 employees.
Cepheid and Danaher did not respond to a request for comment on deadline.
In August, the company laid off 626 employees as it consolidated its US-based cartridge manufacturing activities to its high-tech manufacturing campus in Lodi.
During the past year, Cepheid's respiratory testing revenues have exceeded Danaher's expectations in every financial quarter, and the company has seen double-digit growth in core revenues. Most recently, Danaher said the firm's Q4 2024 respiratory revenues of $550 million exceeded expectations due to higher volumes and use of the firm's four-in-one respiratory virus panel. The firm's core non-respiratory reagent portfolio saw double-digit percent range growth in the fourth quarter, as well.
