NEW YORK – United Airlines said on Thursday that it is launching a COVID-19 pilot testing program next month for passengers flying from San Francisco to Hawaii.
Starting Oct. 15, travelers will have the option to take the Abbott ID Now rapid test at San Francisco International Airport, administered by GoHealth Urgent Care and partner Dignity Health, or to do a mail-in test administered by Color ahead of their trip.
The Abbott test returns results in approximately 15 minutes and will be available to United customers on the day of their flight at the airport. Passengers using Color's test will need to self-collect and provide their sample at least three days before their trip, United said.
Any travelers to Hawaii who test negative won't be required to adhere to the state's 14-day quarantine requirement, the airline added. Pricing information for the tests was not immediately available.
