NEW YORK ─ Thermo Fisher Scientific and Ortho Clinical Diagnostics on Wednesday announced a collaboration to distribute Thermo Scientific quality control and quality assurance products for use with Ortho's Vitros analyzers.
Under the agreement, customers of Raritan, New Jersey-based Ortho will have access to MAS third-party quality controls, as well as the LabLink xL web-based quality assurance program, which provides quality control monitoring with automatic data entry upload and audit-friendly reports, Thermo Fisher said.
Ortho customers will also have access to support, service, and quality control ranges for specific reagent lots, Thermo Fisher said.
Thermo Fisher's MAS Quality Control products help clinical laboratories maximize productivity through consolidation of control material, provide "shelf-life stability longer than industry standard, and [provide] open vial stability that reduces the cost and time required for recalibrating new lots," Tina Liedtky, president of clinical diagnostics for the firm, said in a statement.
Ortho said in a separate statement that under the distribution agreement, it will provide and support MAS Quality Controls and LabLink xL Quality Assurance Software through its Vitros QC Solutions, which include Ortho controls.
In 2017, Ortho and Waltham, Massachusetts-based Thermo Fisher entered into a strategic relationship to develop a procalcitonin assay for use on Ortho's Vitros systems, which are installed in more than 5,600 laboratories worldwide, including 1,500 labs in the US.
