Sona Nanotech Gets CE Mark for Rapid Coronavirus Antigen Test

NEW YORK — Canadian life sciences firm Sona Nanotech said last week that it has received CE marking for its rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen test.

The immunochromatographic assay is designed to detect the virus's spike protein antigen in nasopharyngeal swab specimens, providing results in 15 minutes, according to the company. It will be marketed as a screening tool for use by organizations in high-risk congregate settings.

Sona Nanotech said that it aims to conduct a clinical trial that will support regulatory submissions in additional markets and that it is continuing to optimize a prototype version of the test for use with saliva samples.
