NEW YORK – Antelope Dx announced on Thursday that it is collaborating with In The Pocket and Extra Horizon to develop an app and cloud-based services for its self-tests.
Antelope Dx's self-test kit will include a reusable reader device, single-use test cartridges, and a smartphone app, the company said in a statement. The Ghent, Belgium-based company plans to bring a multiplex COVID-19 and influenza test to market first and is working on a test for Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
Antelope Dx CEO Hilde Windels said the test can make a difference after the pandemic, "once COVID-19 has become endemic and most people will be vaccinated."
In The Pocket will develop the app, which will guide the user through the process of completing the self-test, provide the test result, and "propose useful next steps based on the result," In The Pocket CEO Jeroen Lemaire said in a statement. It will also provide metadata on positive COVID-19 cases to public health authorities.
Meanwhile, Extra Horizon will work on the cloud-based component of the app to make sure data is managed safely and ensure regulatory compliance in international markets.
Last year, Antelope Dx raised €9 million ($10.7 million) in a Series B financing round and received a €2.2 million ($2.6 million) grant from the Flanders Agency for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to expand its platform to include nasal swab and blood samples.
