NEW YORK (360Dx) – Beckman Coulter Diagnostics and Tipperary, Ireland-based Technopath Clinical Diagnostics said today that they have inked a long-term supply and distribution agreement for quality control products.
Under the agreement, Beckman Coulter will distribute the full range of Technopath Multichem QC products, including quality control materials and its IAMQC data management platform in more than 100 countries.
Beckman Coulter anticipates it will immediately begin distributing in Europe an initial set of quality control products for chemistry and immunoassays, with other regions to follow as registrations are completed.
Financial and additional terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Technopath’s manufacturing processes allow incorporation of a greater number of analytes into a single matrix, which ultimately enables "extensive" test menu consolidation, the firms said.
By consolidating QC materials, clinical laboratories can "significantly" reduce labor, reclaim storage space, and minimize waste, leading to a more efficient quality control process, they added.
John Blackwood, senior vice president of products and services at Beckman Coulter, said in a statement that use of independent quality control materials is a requirement under ISO15189 and is "absolutely crucial" in the clinical laboratory.
"Technopath’s highly efficient QC solution will help Beckman Coulter customers address the strong and growing demand for multi-constituent quality control products," he said.
