NEW YORK (360Dx) – McKesson Medical-Surgical will be the exclusive distribution partner for Sysmex's new automated hematology analyzer, the companies announced today.
McKesson will offer the XW-100 system, a CLIA-waived complete blood count diagnostic instrument, that upon being prepared for each day's use, allows users to provide patients with blood test results in as few as three minutes. McKesson and Sysmex added the system allows tests to be conducted in house without the certification necessary for the operation of more complex platforms.
The XW-100 will have a limited launch starting next month, with a full launch expected in the spring. The partners are developing a sales strategy that will allow them to fulfill customer demands smoothly and quickly once the systems begin shipping.
McKesson Medical-Surgical, an affiliate of McKesson Corporation, noted that more than 200,000 physicians use its technology and services, and 24 of the top 25 health plans are McKesson customers.
Financial and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
