NEW YORK (360Dx) — EKF Diagnostics Holdings announced on Thursday that it has signed a US distribution agreement for its DiaSpect Tm reagent-free hemoglobin analyzer with McKesson Medical-Surgical.
The DiaSpect Tm is a battery-operated, hand-held device that uses a broad-spectrum photometric method to provide accurate hemoglobin measurements in about one second of a filled microcuvette being placed into the analyzer. It received US Food and Drug Administration clearance and a CLIA waiver earlier this year.
Under the terms of the deal, McKesson Medical-Surgical will offer the device in the US under its own brand as the McKesson Consult Hb analyzer. A product launch is expected later this year.
Additional terms were not disclosed.
"This agreement with McKesson allows us to offer this innovative technology to physicians and childcare specialists across the US through the market's leading and most established healthcare distribution player," Julian Baines, CEO of Cardiff, Wales-based EKF, said in a statement.
