NEW YORK (360Dx) – Chinese contract research outsourcing firm WuXi AppTec and the Mayo Clinic announced today that they have formed a joint venture to provide clinical diagnostic services in China.
According to the partners, the JV will join WuXi AppTec's laboratory and manufacturing services with Mayo Medical Laboratories' clinical and lab testing expertise, and will develop new diagnostics in addition to offering tests currently available from Mayo Medical Laboratories.
Additional terms were not disclosed.
"Through this agreement, WuXi AppTec Group will have access, through an exclusive partnership, to Mayo-developed tests and will be able to offer those tests to hospitals, health care providers, and patients in China," Mayo Medical Laboratories President William Morice said in a statement. "We expect this new venture to accelerate diagnostics research in our laboratory as well, transforming discoveries into tests that will benefit all patients."
WuXi AppTec Chairman Ge Li added in the statement that the JV will help support the company's efforts to build a leading diagnostic services operation in China. In late 2016, WuXi AppTec signed a deal to become the exclusive distributor of AutoGenomics' molecular diagnostic systems and related products in China.
