Agilent Plans to Cut 400 Jobs, Close Facilities in Restructuring
The Santa Clara, California-based firm said it will reduce its workforce by 2 percent as part of cost-cutting efforts to reduce annual expenses by $80 million.
The firm is expanding its lab capabilities and leveraging its test development reputation to form partnerships early in the drug development process.
Industry insiders said Resolution Bio may be a better fit under Exact Sciences and think it could augment Exact's cancer testing portfolio.

The firms announced a deal, for an undisclosed sum, about one month after Agilent announced plans to shutter the Resolution Bioscience business.
For Q3, the firm said its diagnostics revenues rose 3 percent, but Resolution's kitted NGS-based companion diagnostics business hadn't developed as expected.
