NEW YORK ─ Nutley, New Jersey-based Hackensack Meridian Health and Secaucus, New Jersey-based Quest Diagnostics on Tuesday announced that they have inked a long-term laboratory management agreement whereby Quest will manage laboratory operations and perform reference testing for 11 Hackensack Meridian Health hospitals.
Under the agreement, the organizations will move testing that is not time-sensitive from medical centers within the Hackensack Meridian Health system to Quest's laboratory in Teterboro and, in 2021, to its new flagship laboratory in Clifton, New Jersey.
The 250,000 square-foot laboratory in Clifton will be co-located along with the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine on a biotech campus called ON3.
Financial and other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
"Being co-located with the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine provides many opportunities to collaborate and improve patient outcomes," Quest Diagnostics Chairman, CEO, and President Steve Rusckowski said in a statement.
The deal with Hackensack Meridian Health represents Quest's largest professional laboratory services agreement to date, he added.
