NEW YORK (360Dx) – Laboratory Corporation of America and the Mount Sinai Health System today announced a new agreement to standardize inpatient laboratory services across the Mount Sinai System.
Through the new contract, LabCorp will optimize laboratory operations at each of Mount Sinai's seven acute care hospitals by standardizing test menus, equipment, supplies, logistics, and processes across the laboratories. In addition, LabCorp is now the primary reference laboratory for Mount Sinai, which the partners said improves the consistency and efficiency of reference testing, and helps to streamline laboratory data interchanges and control costs.
In January of 2017, the two partners announced that LabCorp had agreed to acquire the assets of Mount Sinai's Clinical Outreach Laboratories. Gary Huff, CEO of LabCorp Diagnostics, said in a statement that the two firms have reached a "number of agreements" during the past year that have improved patient care and lowered costs.
