NEW YORK – Digital pathology firm PathAI said Thursday that it has received CE-IVDR marking for the use of its slide image management system to aid primary diagnosis.
The Boston-based company said that its AISight Dx Image Management System is used in digital pathology workflows for image ingestion, viewing, and management as well as for caseload balancing and assignment, collaboration, and case management. The system integrates with laboratory information systems through the company's AISight Link software, and the firm said that the tools can be used by anatomic pathology laboratories within healthcare systems, university hospitals, and reference labs, among others.
"We look forward to partnering with European labs to democratize access to digital pathology, enhance the pathologist experience, and ultimately improve patient outcomes," Nick Brown, chief growth officer for PathAI, said in a statement.
PathAI and Quest Diagnostics announced in May that they had inked deals to accelerate Quest's transition to digital pathology and adoption of artificial intelligence-based technologies. Those deals included Quest's acquisition, competed in June, of PathAI's anatomic and digital pathology lab services business and laboratory facilities in Memphis, Tennessee.
PathAI also announced earlier this year a partnership with Roche Tissue Diagnostics on the development of AI-based algorithms and companion diagnostic tests.
