NEW YORK ─ The US Department of Defense awarded a $178.5 million firm-fixed-price Army contract on Monday to Marlborough, Massachusetts-based Hologic for the firm's Panther Fusion SARS-CoV-2 assays, Aptima SARS-CoV-2 assays, multiplex test kits, and associated reagents and consumables, according to the DoD website.
Bids were solicited via the internet, and one bid was received, the DoD said, adding that the estimated contract completion date is May 2, 2024.
The DoD award renews a purchasing contract for Hologic's tests, the firm said.
Additional terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Last March, the US Food and Drug Administration granted Emergency Use Authorization to Hologic for its Panther Fusion SARS-CoV-2 assay, running on its fully automated, high-throughput Panther Fusion molecular diagnostic platform. In October, the firm obtained FDA EUA for its Aptima SARS-CoV-2 assay, running on the firm's fully automated, high-throughput Panther system.
