NEW YORK – Streck said Tuesday that it will be a worldwide distributor for PrimeStore MTM sample collection devices from Longhorn Vaccines and Diagnostics.
Longhorn's PrimeStore MTM (Molecular Transport Media) is a collection device for the inactivation, stabilization, and transport at ambient temperatures of biological samples that will undergo molecular testing. It received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration in 2018.
The transport media can be stored without refrigeration or cold packs for up to one week in temperatures as high as 122 degrees Fahrenheit and for up to 23 days at ambient temperatures, according to Longhorn's website. It is also compatible with most nucleic acid extraction technologies and molecular point-of-care and syndromic platforms that have an extraction step, including platforms from Roche, Cepheid, BioFire, Oxford Nanopore, and Illumina.
"Streck is a true innovator in the sample collection field, and one of the most trusted companies in the diagnostic industry," Longhorn Cofounder and President Jeff Fischer said in a statement. "PrimeStore MTM is a natural fit for distribution by Streck, as Longhorn shares its dedication to providing unique stabilization solutions for clinical testing and research."
