NEW YORK – Digital pathology firm PathAI announced on Monday that it has acquired Poplar Healthcare Management, the management service organization for Poplar Healthcare.
The laboratory services company offers a variety of specialized testing services for a variety of uses, including gastrointestinal pathology, dermatology, oncology, urology, and women's health. PathAI's diagnostics division is now made up of Poplar's facilities, management team, and 350 employees, who will remain based in Memphis, Tennessee, PathAI said in a statement.
Financial and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
PathAI noted that the companies "will be investing to further digitize the Poplar laboratory workflow" and will use PathAI's "image analysis and algorithm development capabilities to unlock new clinical applications."
The acquisition provides Boston-based PathAI with "end-to-end capabilities" to support the firm's development of artificial-intelligence driven products for drug development and patient care, it added.
Earlier this year, PathAI closed a $165 million Series C financing round, using the money to expand its product suite and prioritize collaborations with pharmaceutical and diagnostic partners.
