NEW YORK (360Dx) – Aquaro Histology said this week it has completed a Series A financing round that raised $9.8 million.
The financing will allow the Ann Arbor, Michigan-based firm to launch its first product, the Aquaro ASM (Automated Section Mounting), expand the company's commercial efforts, and support its R&D work.
The Aquaro ASM facilitates hands-free microtomy in histology labs by transferring paraffin-free embedded sections from blades to slides. The system interfaces with existing motorized microtomes and can be integrated into current histology lab workflows, Aquaro said, adding the instrument reduces the need for constant attention from a histologist.
Telegraph Hill Partners led the Series A round. Tom Raffin, Deval Lashkari, and Rob Hart, who are members of the equity firm have joined Aquaro's board of directors.
