NEW YORK ─ Cyted on Monday announced it has acquired Pathognomics, a provider of digital pathology and clinical diagnostic laboratory services, for an undisclosed amount.
Cambridge, UK-based Cyted, a developer of artificial intelligence and digital diagnostic technology for disease detection, said the acquisition of Pathognomics, founded in 2016, will provide it with an accredited laboratory and digital pathology technology, enabling the uptake and expansion of its pipeline of biomarkers and AI technology.
Cyted noted that it has already been collaborating with Huntingdon, UK-based Pathognomics to launch diagnostic services for the earlier detection of esophageal cancer.
The firms will now look to scale their combined diagnostic reporting services and infrastructure to further support both existing and future healthcare partners, Cyted said.
Pathognomics' employees will join Cyted, taking its headcount from 15 to 23. Pathognomics’ Cofounder and Laboratory Director Christopher Evagora will become Cyted’s senior director of laboratory operations, and its CoFounder and Project Director Alec Hirst will become Cyted’s senior director of business technology. To accommodate the expanding teams, Cyted is increasing its laboratory and office space.
