NEW YORK – Digital health nonprofit Audere announced on Friday that it has partnered with African diagnostic company Medical Diagnostech to combine that firm's SARS-CoV-2 antigen test with Audere's HealthPulse app.
The app will provide result interpretation for the rapid lateral flow test and will integrate it with public health reporting systems in Africa, Audere said in a statement. That integration will allow for more informed surveillance and disease management, the company added.
"The increased public health reporting capabilities enabled by digitizing rapid diagnostic test result data are crucial to South Africa’s evolving public health strategy," Audere CEO Dino Rech said in a statement.
Medical Diagnostech's MD SARS-nCoV-2 Antigen Device received approval from the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority late last year and is currently available in South Africa. The integrated app will be made available to frontline healthcare workers in the country in the second half of 2022 through a pilot program, Audere said.
