NEW YORK – Agena Bioscience said last week that it entered South American markets via distribution agreements with EXSA SRL in Argentina and Uniscience do Brasil in Brazil.
EXSA SRL specializes in distributing molecular diagnostics tools across Argentina for numerous brands, including Abbott, Sysmex, and Sentinel Diagnostics.
Similarly, Uniscience do Brasil is a lab products distributor representing many brands, including NanoString, New England Biolabs, and Pacific Biosciences.
Financial details of both deals were not disclosed.
Agena is a subsidiary of Mesa Labs, which acquired the San Diego-based company in 2021. It markets genomic research products such as the benchtop multiplex MassArray system and custom assays for applications such as germline or somatic genotyping, translocations, copy number variants, and methylation profiling.
The company recently received a warning letter from the US Food and Drug Administration against selling its research-use-only products to clinical labs.
