Hygiena Completes Acquisition of DuPont Global Food Safety Dx Business

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Microbiology and life science company Hygiena said today that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of DuPont's global food safety diagnostics business.

The business — originally known as Qualicon — includes all of DuPont Diagnostics' assets, including the BAX foodborne pathogens and spoilage organisms testing platform; the RiboPrinter contaminating organism differentiation and identification system; BAX- and RiboPrinter-associated test kits; a sales, R&D, and manufacturing organization; and in-house production capacity. Hygiena said that it will sell DuPont Diagnostics products through its Qualicon Diagnostics unit.

Financial terms of the deal, which was announced in December, were not disclosed.

"We are excited to welcome the DuPont Diagnostics team to Hygiena and look forward to better serving our global food and beverage customers by offering a wider food safety testing portfolio," Hygiena CEO Steven Nason said in a statement. "Hygiena now offers testing solutions to cover the full food manufacturing process, from sanitation monitoring to finished product testing."
